Using Blogs on izwe
![]()
Blog posts can be used in many ways - from providing updates and news to sharing documents, giving helpful links and tips to hosting resources. Here I'm collecting some practical tips on how to use blog posts, especially while we are still sorting out some useablity issues.
Entering a Blog Post
Often, if text is copied into an izwe html box (such as the box where you enter blog posts) from some text-editing software (e.g. Word), when published it will display on the page with some of its formatting code. Here's how to avoid this happening:
Method One:
Write it inside the text box on izwe, applying whatever formatting (e.g. bold, italics, or bullet points) you desire.
Method Two:
1. Write your article in any text editor, without worrying about formatting (Bold headers, Bullet points).
2. Open a basic text editor (e.g. Notepad) and copy and paste your blog into it. You will see your text appear without any formatting at all – just the words, spaces and paragraph breaks. This removes all the formatting that Word or other editing software applies.
3. Copy and paste the text from here, into the izwe blog.
4. Then go through your post, applying any formatting changes from inside the izwe text editor.
Following these steps should lead to your blog post appearing the way you expect it to!
Why is there a problem in the first place?
Text editing software often applies a lot of default formatting – inside 'tags' indicated by being enclosed within brackets
